Buncha is one of the voices you have probably heard if you have called us at some point this spring! She is Minky, our Administrator's, Assistant and she is going to be spending the summer making sure that all of our campers are registered and ready to go, as well as taking care of many other administrative tasks. She is from Kirkland Lake, and she is our only staff member this year who was a camper at Dorothy Lake, a Cairn site in the Kirkland area that closed in 2015.
She is heading into her fourth year on staf and her eleventh year as a part of Cairn. When she isn't up in the office, she will be planning and running a variety of different sessions at our waterfront, our adventure elements, in nature, and in the MAD2 areas! She also loves to sing at campfire and loves being a part of our embers ceremony. Her favourite food to eat at camp is french toast, because it brightens up her morning.
What are you excited for this summer? "Creating unforgettable memories with a lot of really great people."
Rizma is going to be spending most of her summer up in the air on our adventure elements! She is from Orangeville and is living in Toronto studying at York University. She has spent twelve years as a part of Cairn and is going into her third year on staff. She really enjoys eating pizza bagels. She loves to get messy at camp and is known for creating slip and slides, paint fights, and all sorts of other fun activities.
What are you excited for this summer? "To further develop my facilitation and leadership skills and to foster growth in new experiences for campers."
When Cessa and Fauna aren't programming at Glen Mhor this summer, they will be travelling around the Synod to bring camp to different churches every week. They will be taking turns running week long day camp programs out of churches, the theme for the summer is It's All About the Love
This summer will be Fauna's third year as a part of our staff and her eighth year coming to Cairn. She is from Toronto, but she is currently living in Hamilton and attending McMaster University for Honours Math and Statistics. Throughout the summer she will also be working with Gyro to teach the LITs Bronze Cross as a part of the LIT curriculum. She loves everything about the waterfront, especially swiming and canoeing around Echo Lake at camp. Her favourite of Meret's many yummy recipies is meatballs and rice!
What are you excited for this summer? "I am excited to bring camp to kids through CYOB and show them the extraodinary world that we believe in at camp. I'm also really excited to teach the LITs Bronze Cross!"
Cessa is from Uxbrige, but she currently attends Kings University College at the University of Western Ontario. She has been coming to camp for nine years, and it is also her third year on staff! Cessa can't wait to travel and share camp's magic with diffent churches over the CYOB program. She is also super excited to be working with the Pre-Lit counsellors this summer to help create and run an exciting and fun program for them. One of her favourite things to do at camp is to cook loaded baked potatoes over a fire for dinner. Cessa loves coming up with creative and cool ways to have paint fights.
What are you excited for this summer? "I'm excited to play with kids all over Ontario through CYOB! I am also really excited to be helping out the Pre-Lit counsellors run an amazing program for our campers!"
Tumba is currently studying Dance Education at York University, but she is from Collingwood. This summer is going to be her fourth year on staff and it brings her to a total of sixteen years at camp. Tumba is going to be spending her time mostly hanging out in MandD and the Fox Den leading MADD sessions. She is also going to be heading the team of staff who are running the MADD Camp Musical! She can't decide if she loves taco salad or pizza bagels more, she loves them both. One of her favourite things that she has ever done at camp is going for a sunrise paddle on Echo Lake.
What are you excited for this summer? "I am excited to share my passion of the arts with campers, to grow personally and in my faith, and to build strong relationships within the camp community"
Lira and Rapid will be floating between the program area's at Glen Mhor and they will be planning and running a variety of different sessions at our waterfront, our adventure elements, in nature, and in the MAD2 areas!
Lira is on her second year on staff and her eleventh year in total. She is from Toronto and she will be heading to the University of Ottawa in September. One of the things that she loves to eat during the summer is chicken burgers and fries. She is also part of the MADD Camp musical team and she will be helping Tumba create, write, and bring the musical to life this summer! She loves to sing all the time, but particularly with the whole of camp during campfire.
What are you excited for this summer? "I'm excited to meet new campers and introduce them to the wonderful place camp is!"
Rapid is from Thornhill, ON, but he will be at University of Toronto in September. He just graduated from Bill Crothers Secondary School where he balanced his education and his athletics. This will be his second year on staff, but his ninteenth year in total. Rapid is a long time Family Camp camper, and he will actually get his twenty year paddle when he is nineteen! He is an avid lover of chicken burgers and his favourite time at camp is free swim!
What are you excited for this summer? "I am excited to learn from others and put smiles on faces!"
Oria is going to be running our waterfront and watercraft programming this summer. She is from Fort McMurray, Alberta and she has been making the commute to camp for thirteen years, three of which have been to be on staff. She loves to eat pizza bagels at camp. She loves all things about the water, but her favourite watersport is canoeing, and she is going to be doing quite a bit of it this summer!
She will also be overseeing the guard team and making all of the schedules to make sure that everyone is always safe at the waterfront!
What are you excited for this summer? "I can't wait to be in the water all day and to have lots of fun with the children!"
