Our Bad.

It has just come to our attention that the ages listed for GM 1, Girls’ Camp, were incorrect. Previously, our online schedule stated that Girls’ Camp was for ages 7-12; this camp is actually for ages 7-14. So, if you have some girls that you would like to send to camp, whether they be sisters, friends, cousins or even all on their own, we welcome any girls or young women aged 7 to 14.

If you have a young woman who is older than 14 and would like to go to camp that week, have no fear! We are also offering our Young Women’s Leadership Camp during the same week. This session is for young woman who are 15 & 16 years old. Come and learn about leadership, how to make and maintain strong and healthy friendships, how to better understand yourself and feel more self assured in this fast-paced world. You will leave this programme feeling empowered as a strong, confident and poised young woman.

We hope that this correction has not inconvenienced you in any way. If you have any questions regarding this adjustment, please do not hesitate to contact our administrator at admin@ilovecamp.org.

We started at 10am with some warm-up games, then moved into some initiatives, team building and thought-provoking activities.

It thrills me to have such an amazing group of people ready to put their all into camp this summer; based on what I saw on Saturday, we are going to have a stellar Resource team for 2010.

One of my favourite parts of this hiring day was a discussion we had about what Camp Culture is. This group had some amazing insight into exactly what it is that makes Cairn stand out as a place that is serious about providing a holistic camp experience. From the 4S’s to music to faith and to fun, this crew already has an impressive handle how to deliver progamming and experiences that will positively impact our campers.

So, thanks to our Resource applicants for coming out on Saturday and giving your all.

Before we left at 4pm on Saturday, we played a quick game called, 1, 2, 3 Ugly! The premise is this: I hold the camera up in front of a group of people. I then say, “1, 2, 3, _______”! and I fill in the blank with a really great word. For instance, I might say, “1, 2, 3, popcorn popping”, and then you, as the group being photographed, have to immediately pretend that you are, indeed, a kernel of popcorn popping.

We got a nice group shot of everyone (above), then we did a whole group 1, 2, 3 Ugly. Here are our results to, “1, 2, 3, Lifeguard Chair”. Hope you enjoy!

This Saturday all of our Resource Staff applicants will join our co-directors, Match and Palais, at Morningside-High Park Presbyterian Church in Toronto from 10 -4 for our Hiring Day.

Saturday’s hiring day won’t be like your typical job interview. As a group, we will play games, share stories, take risks, embrace new challenges and work both as a team and as individuals to gain perspective on how we will mesh as a potential body of staff this coming spring and summer at Cairn.

Match and Palais have been working up the perfect games, activities, challenges, interview questions, expectations and strategies for forming the best Resource team we possibly can!

We cannot wait to see all our Resource Staff potentials, get to know them a little more closely, and engage with them throughout this jam-packed day.

A note to Resource applicants: don’t forget your directions to Morningside-High Park, your packed lunch and your A-game!
